This came from Kairos:
"Re the Down with OPP thread concerns:
Hey there! You don't know me, I'm fairly sure and I mostly just watch and interact with folks occasionally on systems design conversations. But I wanted to drop a quick note on the Down With OPP thread and the stuff that happened there recently.
Now, I have no dog in this fight. Don't know any party involved, etc. However the posting of peoples pictures strikes me as so close to doxxing that it makes me extremely uncomfortable, no matter the reason it is allegedly being done.
I understand the staff team took action and hey, it's your forum and your rules and I've got no problems with that. I just wanted to leave you a note in case it might matter that this kind of behavior by an MSB group - mob might perhaps be a better word - is exactly the kind of thing that would make me extremely reluctant to interact with folks here. I don't need internet mobs splashing my face all over the place for whatever the reason du jour is or worse and more likely, splashing the face of some innocent schmuck they claim is me all over the place for whatever the reason du jour is.
Anyway. No need to respond, I just wanted to send in a 'letter to the editor' as it were. Thank you for your time and the things you and your team do here.
This was my response:
"I don't care for personal attacks myself. They're not constructive and a lot of them have little to say other than "I don't like what <X> did" or, worse, "I don't like <X>".
But silencing them - meaning deleting posts - is a line I don't care to cross unless the forum's few rules on the matter are violated. In my experience forcing complaints out of the public eye doesn't deter them, it just puts them beyond the target's ability to review or defend themselves, which is worse.
I haven't followed the thread in question. If there are posts in it where someone is getting doxxed please let me know (as that is one of MSB's no-no's) and we'll take action as needed."
