The Rules of Engagement are amended to the following.
This is where things get nasty.
You don't need to be constructive here. You don't need to be nice. You can set aside the usual rules for the rest of the forum and say what you want to say.
Has a game pissed you off? Let it out. Has a staffer pissed you off? Let them have it. Feel free to use as many F-bombs as you can reasonably fit in. Brush someone off whose opinion you don't share. Be dismissive; be catty; be whatever. This is the place to do it.
But there are still rules to be observed:
Misogyny, racism, sexual harassment, doxxing, real-life threats, and anything calculated to demean, shame, or to intimidate others based on their race, gender identity, sexuality, religion, ethnicity, ancestry, or disability will not be tolerated in any form. Don't know if something is "too offensive"? Don't say it. It's really that simple.
Posting violently graphic or obscene language or imagery will not be tolerated. This includes graphic nudity and (I can't believe I have to say this, but it happened, so here we are) sexual or violent pictures of children. Again, if you think something may cross the line, don't post it. Yes, it is that simple.
Spamming by responding to every post you see. Trolling for the sake of getting a reaction. Inviting and encouraging the dogpiling. Telling others who and how they can respond. Not taking gentle suggestion from the moderators seriously. If you make this board and its topics all about you, we will take steps to make sure that it won't be; if you do not want to be challenged on your behavior or your peeve, go post on Facebook or somewhere else. And, yes, it is that simple.
What sort of sanctions could you face? You may get a warning; you may get none. You may get a temporary ban for a few hours or days; you may be permanently banned without explanation. There is no due process here, but the moderators will do their best to act in the interests of the forum and its members to ensure that this board keeps a bit of its old character while not tipping beyond a point of no return into insanity.
So we moderators cannot guarantee complete safety. We cannot guarantee you will not be offended or triggered. All we can do is say that we will try to moderate this place with an eye towards ensuring it neither tightens into stuffiness nor devolves into degeneracy. That said, if you are so angry or irritated that you feel a pressing urge to respond to every damn thing said about you, do yourself a favor and take a break before we have to act.
We will act when we see we need to, and although what we see and know may or may not be the same as what you see and know, we are still obliged to enforce the rules to the best of our knowledge and experience. That's the only reason we are here, and when that reason is gone there will be no need for us.
Until then, these are the rules.
