    --- Theme Info --------------------
The ideals of Xavier and Magneto clash as a fragment of chaos touches the world.

Left behind after rogue sorcerers disrupted Feron's communion with the Phoenix
Force, the fragment -- dubbed the Flame of Darkness -- has steadily become a
thing to be desired, a thing to be pursued, for whatever its would-be
    possessors' greatest wishes.

Amid this struggle, heroes have emerged: the X-Men embody the ideals of peaceful
coexistence, the Acolytes and Brotherhood struggle for freedom from oppression,
and the Avengers fight to maintain right and goodness. Others will be drawn into the conflict.

Due to an unforeseen series of events, mutants have been exposed to the public
for about six months. Programs have begun to develop such as the Mutant
Response Division and the Sentinel Program. S.H.I.E.L.D. director
Nicholas Fury felt it was time to push the Avengers Initiative forward with
Tony Stark at the helm. The world has become a dangerous place for those
with inhuman abilities. Even such heroes as the Fantastic Four are under
scrutiny and violence against innocent people with special abilities has
    increased exponentially.

Taking advantage of the chaos that has engulfed the world, organizations
such as Hydra, The Brotherhood of Evil Mutants and Friends of Humanity
have popped up to carry out their own agendas to not only suppress
those who are different, but also to conquer the entire world.

Charles Xavier, the founder of the Xavier Institute for Gifted Youngsters
and Magneto, leader of the Acolytes and Brotherhood of Evlil Mutatns
have fortified their defenses to protect their people from harm.
Xavier wants to fight for mutant rights and the ideal that normal
humans and mutants can co-exist peacefully. Magneto takes a more
progressive approach preferring to strike first rather than have
    a need for retaliation.

Whose side is the 'right' side? Whom would you choose to follow?
The fine line between good and evil is not always so cut and dry.

Question: What are you going to do to stop groups like the Young X-Men from becoming slithering nests of underage TS?

  • How are characters applied for? Is there a game system in use?

  • @The-Tree-of-Woe The game has a healthy Staff and the X-School has a strong leadership. I've been on the game since February and the people who play on the game are just, nice, and its not that kind of a game.

@Misadventure You log into the game and you do a simple command that sends the name of the character you want to the Admin. They make the character, then the password is sent to your e-mail. You relog as your new character. <--- OCs. FCs ---> You log into the game and you ask an Admin for the FC that interests you most. You then get the PW to the FC and log into them and fill out their Bio/Powers/Etc. and then show it to an Admin for approval.

  • Is there any form of describing with words or numbers or events from comics or movies about how a power works, or how strong it is, how often it is used?

    Character has Strength of 35.

Character can easily lift a SUV.

    Character has Amazing Strength.

In issues 356, page 12, this Character lifted a big rig cab section without seeming to be strained or tired afterwards.

  • @Misadventure Character Powers are stored on your character in a section you fill out during Character Generation. Its up to the Admin to review the Powers and Approve / Disapprove of them before you can play.

  • In what format are they stored. Give an example, so people have a clue what sort of traits, and resolution you are using. Please quote one of the examples as closest to what is expected or provide a more accurate example.

What part isn't clear? Superhero games with narrative traits are pretty common; it's the way the genre mostly handles them, I think.

@RoguePotato How canon strict are y'all? Particularly once someone starts playing a PC?

  • @Sunny The game is really what you make it out to be. Its not following a set comic-book-storyline. Its going its own route. So you really can be as creative as you like, within reason.

If the Staff feels you're doing something too absurd, they'll not let it happen. But they're a really nice bunch who want everyone to have fun.

@Misadventure They're stored in text, format...? I really don't know how to answer this, sorry.

I'm pretty sure @Misadventure was (probably being obtuse) asking if you guys had any sort of numerical/mechanic system to help resolve disputes/conflicts. Everybody who plays comic-fu and most who don't are aware that most comic games these days just do trait descriptions.

  • No, actually I was giving the posters a chance to you know, describe there game instead of spending how many posts failing to do so then being insulting. NO, not all super hero games use descriptive traits, and those that do use a variety of approaches (descriptive, or by examples).

Nice top see the snark is strong. Guess you only want people who already play super hero trait based games, and who know exactly how hard or not your app process is. Ever heard of people complaining about having to write and rewrite and rewrite paragraphs to describe a common and well known trait of a FC (let alone a OC, good luck there), on MOST HERO GAMES, until a staffers particular view of the character, or you as a player of that character, Are met?

Everybody who plays comic-fu and most who don't are aware that trait based super hero games are famous for being difficult this way.

Whoa. Chill out a little. I did not read the level of snark that you are reading, apparently. And you came on super strong with your demands for more information.

So maybe chill out a bit. Yeesh.

  • I've actually never heard that complaint, myself, @Misadventure .

Then again, I don't app OCs on comic-games. I don't even -like- OCs on comic games.

Most of the complaints I hear about comic-games relate to OC-furries and OC-mutant teenagers.

As I often tell lawyers in depositions, try asking your questions better.

I believe that this is a description-trait-based game with no system. I could be wrong. This is not uncommon for superhero games. It's the primary reason I don't play them.

  • The game is about RP. There's not really anyone on the game right now that are simply looking to win PVP fights.

I'm sorry if thats the game you want, but its not this game.

There is an available dice +roll system, but its just basic dice.

Again, I'm sorry if you wanted a serious Stat Focused Super hero game. I'm sure there is one out there.

I actually don't think there is. (Not that I care.)

    Okay, now you're being obtuse.

She wants to know how players are supposed to exemplify and describe their powers and skills, whether it's description-based, with some sort of numerical value system, or otherwise. She did not say she wanted a "Stat Focused Game" or a game wherein people are looking to win PvP fights (and she did not say that AT ALL AT ANY POINT).

Between her reading into your snark and asking questions vaguely, and you actually living up to it (or reading into what she wants and being insulting about it), it's like you can't have a conversation wherein information is exchanged.

Jeez. Fucking read for comprehension, guys.

  • Coder

@RoguePotato I think what @Misadventure was after was a description of how powers are dealt with, though it escalated rather quickly and absurdly. I believe several people have answered by suggesting it may be trait-based, as in, a textual description of what is capable with the power noted on the character for reference. Is this the case? I think this is mostly just a misunderstanding.

As a side note, PvP can most certainly be RP and even integral to it. So let's just keep this topic informative regarding the game and a discussion on PvP and RP can be spun up in another category.

  • I haven't purposefully put "snark" into any of my posts... I simply was given this url to post an ad.

    So I did that.

I'm happy to answer questions, but I'm not sure how to answer the power question any further than I did.... You write your characters powers out, an Admin reviews it and approves/disapproves of them. They're stored on your character so you can point to them if anyone wants to read them.

I'm not sure how else to write this. :(

  • That answers my question.

Saying its stored as text also describes it, but it also describes almost everything on a MU*.

Sounds like you have a cooperative game, where traits are used to verify that something is correct and previously defined for a character, FC or OC. It does not have, and hopefully never will have, really long or super specific requirements subject to staff whim to define these traits, so folks can get out and play.

@Coin, do you find it odd stating that you don't read snark in something, so make no assumptions, but go on to state you are sure I am coming on strong with something as demanding as a list?

The snark was from someone else anyhow. Least I think they are not associated.

I hope peeps have a good time playing there.
